Diego J. Álvarez-Lao, Associate professor, University of Oviedo (Spain)
His research career is focused on Quaternary large mammal palaeontology, especially on Late Pleistocene cold-adapted mammal faunas from the Iberian Peninsula. His research interests include morphological and morphometric aspects, as well as palaeoecological and palaeoenvironmental issues. He has worked extensively on species such as the woolly mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius), woolly rhinoceros (Coelodonta antiquitatis) and musk-ox (Ovibos moschatus) at different collections kept in international institutions as the Nationaal Natuurhistorisch Museum Naturalis (Leiden, the Netherlands), the Natuurhistorisch Museum (Rotterdam, The Netherlands), the Quaternary Paleontology Division of the Senckenberg Research Institute and Natural History Museum (Weimar, Germany) and the Natural History Museum of Denmark (Copenhagen, Denmark).
